Puli
SJ Suryah had to stay in the backyards of tinsel town for a while. Well, you know the reason? Lots of controversies and continuous flops on the row – these were enough to push in the back row for a while. But now, he’s back on the strike of making things better for him. With his ‘Newtonin Moondram Veedhi’ hitting screens on May 1st, the actor has planned up for something big persistently. It’s all about remaking his own Telugu Directorial ‘Puli’ in Tamil.
The actor-director is filming the Telugu version with Pawan Kalyan in lead role and A.R. Rahman scoring music. He has assured that the film would be remade in Tamil at a budget of 18Crores with himself donning lead role. So, would A.R. Rahman score music for it? Uh-huh!! He will do it for his close pal in town.

Sudesi Iyer
A packed auditorium saw actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan sit side by side and praise their friend, film actor and thespian Y Gee Mahendran. The even was the 100th performance of his play, Sudesi Iyer.
‘There was a time when comedians likes Surulirajan and Thengai Srinivasan were getting old, and there was no market for newer ones like Senthil and Goundamani weren't successful. It was then only Y Gee Mahendran who was the sole leading comedian of that time, in the late 70s and early 80s. And he worked in almost all films in that period for me and Kamal. Yet, he was stringent in stating that he would have theatre practice in the evenings, and never missed it. That is his commitment to theatre,” praised Superstar Rajinikanth, adding that he felt sad whenever Y Gee Mahendran acted in a film. “I’ve seen the important lead roles he performs so well on stage. And I felt miserable whenever I saw do measly supporting roles in movies,” he then said, adding that he felt the same way when he saw RS Manohar in smaller roles in films.
Kamal Haasan, who was the guest of honour, spoke about the indomitable spirit of Gandhi that the play resurfaced. “We try and forget him, we ignore him, and we try to remember him only once in five years, and yet, he bounces back in our memory. I don’t believe in the concept of soul, but I do believe that Gandhi’s will haunt us even today. I am his big fan, which was one of the main reasons I did ‘Heyram’. I’m glad that Y Gee Mahendran’s play has also been on the same lines.”
Others present at the event include Cho Ramaswamy, Murali, MD, The Hindu, director Balu Mahendra, Dhanush, Aishwarya Dhanush, Latha Rajinikanth, Soundarya Rajinikanth, and Gouthami.

Thala wants a silent birthday
After actors Rajini, Kamal Haasan and Napolean, Ultimate Star Ajith Kumar has issued a statement asking his fans to keep the celebrations for his birthday minimal, citing the plight of Sri Lankan Tamils as the reason. The actor’s birthday is on May 1 and he has asked fans to not make grand plans for the day which will be ‘highly inhuman considering our fellow Tamils who are languishing and suffering amidst death and pain in Sri Lanka.’
The actor, in his statement issued to the fans and the press, has also added that he will not be in the country for his birthday, as he will be out on shoot. “I request fans to circumvent the stress of trying to wish me in person,’ the actor has said, asking them to cooperate with the Ajith Kumar Narpani Iyakkam to revamp the organizations. It’s not just the plight of the Eelam Tamils but also the general elections, which Ajith has stated as the reason to keep the celebrations minimal, without ‘posing any discomfort to the authorities concerned.’
Silambarasan’s plan to attract female fans
Silambarasan seems to be thinking of an image makeover seriously. According to sources close to the actor, he may drop projects like Kettavan, which has him in negative shades. Silambarasan is currently busy with the Gautham Menon directed Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya. It is a romantic flick that will help in building Silambarasan’s image. Following Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya, the actor will move on to his next project Kadhalanavan, for which he will don the greasepaint as well as the director’s cap.
This again has a storyline that will attract the female audience. Kadhalanavan may either be produced by Nic Arts or Silambarasan could produce it himself. After Kadhalanavan, Silambarasan will commence work for Varusanadu.
